Research Fellow Track: This is a two-year position for those who are currently in surgical training or residency, and who wish to take time off during their training to conduct research.
Interested fellows may also incorporate a Masters of Public Health degree during their fellowship, but this option is not compulsory.  Please note that the MPH is a separate application through the Harvard School of Public Health.  Tuition and fees associated with the MPH program will be the responsibility of the Fellow.
 
Research Associate Track: This is a one-year position for medical students who wish to take time off between their 3rd and 4th year of medical school, as well as for those who are enrolled in a health-related graduate degree program with an interest in global surgical care.

Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellowship

The Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellowship was created to train leaders who will further promote surgical care, education, and research pertinent to global surgery.  Fellows will develop academic, clinical, and administrative skills in global surgery, public health, surgical systems development, and humanitarian aid. Throughout the course of the Fellowship, there will be a focus on developing a skill set necessary to treat conditions common in resource-poor settings.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 16th
  • Acceptance Notification: February - March
 
FELLOWSHIP START DATE: July 1st
  • Orientation Dates: Last week of June
