Harvard Medical School Center for Global Health and Delivery-Dubai
The PGSSC is excited to announce a collaboration with the Harvard Medical School Center for Global Health and Delivery-Dubai. This center aims to provide medical care to the poor in all arenas of global health. Within global surgery, they are funding crucial quality improvement studies at the Indus Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. They were key players in defining the scope and breadth of global surgery through continued funding, and hosting the final meeting of the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery. They are located in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center in Dubai, UAE, and are uniquely placed to increase global health access in the Middle East.
Gradian Health Systems
Gradian Health Systemsâ„¢ equips hospitals to deliver anaesthesia safely and economically. Their mission is to improve access to safe surgery and perioperative care by providing technology, service and training to strengthen anaesthesia capabilities. This year, Gradian has collaborated with the PGSSC to form the Gradian-PGSSC Research Fellowship.
Kletjian Foundation
The Kletjian Foundation is a private foundation committed to harnessing the power of entrepreneurship for health system strengthening. Since its inception in 2012, the Kletjian Foundation has focused on increasing access to surgical care through its three focus areas: system innovations, capacity building, and research and advocacy. The Kletjian Foundation supported the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery and funded Dr. John Meara's Professorship in Global Surgery in April 2015.
Mercy Ships
Mercy Ships is a global charity, which, since 1978, has operated a fleet of hospital ships. It currently
operates the largest civilian hospital ship in the world. Since 1990, the organization has focused
primarily on Africa, with a major focus on West Africa. The PGSSC is partnering with Mercy Ships
to provide surgical systems assessments, training, and national surgical plan development in conjunction
with national ministries of health.
